Congruence
Welcome to my first blog posting on the Third Eye Soul Journeys site!
For a while I have posted sporadically (and still do) to my www.marydixon.com web site, where I talk about my life on We Are One Farm and some of the insights and inspirations that come with that. If you're interested, you can go to Stories From We Are One Farm . It's one way to get to know me and what I love and what I spend time with. I figure that if you are considering consulting me as your personal Soul Coach® or for a transformational workshop, you might want an idea of who you are dealing with! I would!
Whereas my ongoing stories on marydixon.com will talk more about our life on the land, this blog will be my vehicle to share my musings on spirituality, self-development and the like. Some of that is tied intimately to our land and the lessons it teaches me, so occasionally there may be some common themes emerging.
Today as I trudged through the woods, knee-deep in crunchy snow to accompany our dog Angus on a walk, I thought about the newsletter I'd sent out this morning, also my first, to tell people about Third Eye Soul Journeys. For the readers who may not know me too well or know much about what I have been doing of late in terms of Soul Coaching, the thought came up that perhaps they will think I am going to spout some kind of weird dogma and that to come to my Soul Coaching® program or for individual sessions they are going to have to adopt a whole new set of beliefs or rules. I hope to put their, or your, minds at rest.
While the learnings I've had on my path to Soul Coaching have indeed led me to adopt a few beliefs of my own about our spiritual nature, I wish to clarify that this is not a religion, nor does one need to adhere to any particular belief system to participate in or reap the benefits of these processes.
If your existing belief system will permit you to open yourself to the idea that you are a soul on a journey of experience in human form, to be open to the idea that this soul may come back for more than one such experience, to believe in the ultimately infinite nature of your true essence, and embrace the possibility that Divine Guidance or Higher Guidance or Inner Wisdom (or however you wish to look at it) is already within you and accessible to you directly by learning how to journey within, then I see no impediments to what you may discover through various Soul Coaching methods. If you aren't quite ready to accept these ideas, but are still willing to be open and to explore, then who knows what you might discover!
It's not my goal to convince you of anything, only to help you to be the best and happiest and most authentic you can be, and it is my personal belief that some of the things that have worked for me may be helpful to you.
And at the heart of it, Soul Coaching is really a collection of methods to help you get in touch with that wisdom within. It is a way of tapping into your inner Being to find your own truth, what is true for you, and who your authentic self is, rather than telling you what to think, do or believe. As we often say among Soul Coaches when sharing ideas, "take what resonates and leave the rest!"
If you have read my newsletter you will have seen that I recently completed Practitioner Certification in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and additionally in a related branch of that known as Humanistic Neuro-Linguistic Psychology. These two are collections of methodologies which help you get a handle on who you really are, by clarifying what your issues are, then helping you to discover what you really want in contrast to those issues or problems, and then using various techniques to help re-wire the beliefs, habits & behaviours that get in the way of being how you really want to be.
NLP and HNLP are actually really great complements to Soul Coaching in terms of helping you break free of limits to move forward toward what you want in life, toward being your authentic self. And they share some of the same underlying ideas, namely: that we respect each person's model of the world, that everyone has the resources (or wisdom) within them to achieve their outcomes, that we are interconnected (HNLP), and that perception can be changed and therefore your reality can shift.
They both also suggest that it is important for an individual to be "congruent". In NLP we talk about congruence in terms of whether a person's behaviours both verbal & non-verbal, are supporting their desired outcomes. In Soul Coaching® one of the objectives is to help an individual "align their inner life with their outer life". So essentially the idea is helping one find out first what they really want, what their "truth" is, then helping them on their path to having their outer life actually reflect those inner beliefs and desires.
I tend to refer to that as learning to be "authentic" or, as I wrote in my newsletter based on the topic of one of Denise's oracle cards, finding one's truth and then "walking your talk". Both Soul Coaching and NLP are essentially different methods for helping one achieve that, the former from a perhaps more "spiritual" perspective, and the latter more psychologically-based.
While my newsletter will be only sent out monthly so I don't inundate folks with email, I hope to....oops! I mean I intend to blog in this space more regularly. See, I am working on walking my own talk! "Hoping" gets me nowhere, "intending" helps move me into action on what I say I want. This is how one starts to become congruent.
Here's to you and becoming congruent in 2010!! Unearth your own truth and start walking it!
With all my love, and best wishes for a happy new year,
~Mary
